Mate es un niño que, como tantos, siente una enorme fascinación por los dinosaurios. Sin embargo, a diferencia de tantos otros, no crecerá. Su cuerpo mantendrá su estatura por debajo del promedio toda la vida. Un día, en un centro comercial en construcción, cerca de su casa, encuentran huellas de un alosaurio, es decir, lagarto extraño, nada menos. Niño y animal se comunicarán, ¿en sueños?, y quedarán contentos, sabiendo que, a su manera, los dos son excepcionales.
