Stefan Zweig convierte la vida de Friedrich Nietzsche en un apasionante relato, en la odisea de un espíritu acosado por formidables demonios. Nietzsche aparece aquí como un «don Juan del conocimiento» que se aproxima con galantería —y sentido trágico— a las verdades que ejercen de soporte del consenso moral de occidente, para detectar sus debilidades y forzar después su caída. Nido de nobles (1859) es una hermosa y melancólica novela sobre la persistencia del deseo, testimonio de una generación perdida en la Rusia del momento, una generación que solo podía levantarse "en medio de la oscuridad".
