Ciudadanos no es la versión trillada de un régimen muriendo de enfermedad y decrepitud, sino el reflejo de la transformación que cambió la historia de Europa para siempre: el paso de hombres y mujeres de «sujetos» a «ciudadanos». Partiendo de la idea de que la fe de los ciudadanos en la libertad fue la causa más que el producto de la Revolución francesa, Schama dibuja un país en ebullición en el que se derrumban las diferencias entre nobles y plebeyos, en un escenario de hambre, ira, terror y muerte. A través de la historia social, cultural y política, Schama encuentra el marco de su historia en imágenes y artefactos, cerámicas y calendarios y, con su particular punto de vista, nos acerca más que nunca a la realidad humana de la Revolución Francesa.

Desde su primera edición en 1980, la Historia crítica de la arquitectura moderna de Kenneth Frampton se ha convertido en un clásico imprescindible dentro de la bibliografía académica sobre historia de la arquitectura moderna. En esta quinta edición ampliamente revisada y actualizada, el autor ha añadido una nueva y extensa sección que explora al detalle la evolución del Movimiento Moderno en la arquitectura en todo el mundo a finales del siglo xx y principios del xxi. En ella, se examinan las diversas formas en que los arquitectos no solo responden a los contextos geográficos, climáticos, materiales y culturales, sino que siguen también distintas líneas de enfoque en relación a la topografía, la morfología, la sostenibilidad y la forma cívica.

Peñas arriba, publicada a principios de 1895, alcanzó un éxito inmediato por su capacidad de captar las dimensiones simbólicas de un paisaje, el de la montaña cántabra, que aparece contrapuesto a la vida sofisticada y mendaz de la urbe. En el frívolo y mundano Marcelo y en la relación que establece con su tío, el ejemplar don Celso, se cifra ese camino de regreso a lo natural. En su edición para la Biblioteca Clásica, Laureano Bonet sitúa el "realismo regionalista" de Pereda en su contexto estético e ideológico (tradicionalista y antiliberal), ubica la novela en unas coordenadas europeas más amplias y le insufla, además, una mirada renovadora, de orden antropológico, que la aproxima a angustias de nuestro propio tiempo. Para el establecimiento del texto se ha escrutado detalladamente el difícil proceso de redacción de la novela -interrumpida por el suicidio del hijo-, cuyo autógrafo se conserva, y se han tenido en cuenta la primera edición y la que se incluyó en las Obras completas del autor.

An exclusive look into the preparations behind the Naples in Paris exhibition at the Louvre, beautifully captured by the renowned photographer Robert Polidori. From June 2023 to January 2024, the Musée du Louvre in Paris welcomed sixty major masterpieces from the Museo di Capodimonte, on loan for the exhibition Naples in Paris: The Louvre Hosts the Museo di Capodimonte. The former Italian royal palace, which once served as a hunting lodge for Bourbon monarchs, is now one of the largest museums in Italy holding one of the continent’s most important collections of Italian paintings, drawings, and sculptures. Among the artworks featured are the famously enigmatic Antea by Parmigianino, a poignant painting of the Crucifixion by Masaccio, The Transfiguration of Christ by Giovanni Bellini, and preparatory cartoons by Raphael and Michelangelo. On the occasion of this historic artistic exchange, acclaimed photographer Robert Polidori was granted exclusive access to the preparations of the exhibition in the Louvre’s prestigious Grand Galerie. Known for his unique images of architecture and interiors, Polidori exquisitely captures the process and inner workings of the arrival, set-up, and display of the artworks. Part photography monograph, part art history book, this unique publication reveals the hidden workings behind one of the most significant collaborative efforts among major museums in recent years.
