El kitsch ha cambiado. Lo que antes se consideraba un estilo de mal gusto, relegado al ámbito decorativo y asociado a la estética burguesa, se ha transformado en un «neokitsch» global que impregna la arquitectura, el ocio, la moda, el mundo del espectáculo e incluso la comunicación digital. Su influencia ha crecido tanto que ha dado lugar a un «kitsch de lujo», adoptado por grandes marcas y élites financieras. Expansivo y omnipresente, ya no se limita a los objetos o las imágenes, sino que configura una auténtica civilización cimentada en la lógica del exceso: la civilización del «demasiado».

De aquí en lo adelante, el discurso narrativo objetivo, que es lo mismo que decir, el discurso noticioso o periodístico, tomará cuerpo posesional en el marco de la novela Las calles enemigas. La presencia de esta dialogia será permanente en todos los estadios del desarrollo de la trama narrativa.
